Alot has changed since my last post. Indie and alt looks have gone completely mainstream. This isn’t a bad thing. I’d rather see more people wearing skinnies or slims than mom or dad jeans. But the question of originality falls into play. I think as the weather starts to cool down, and people start to put away their cut off denim shorts, there will be more chances to stand out from the pack not necessarily by what you wear (since most people now have the same staple items in their closet) but by how you layer and how you accesseserize. This fall, I’m seeing alot of the color navy for men. Check this affordable cropped trench from forever21.com.

Also, you’re gonna be seeing more and more variations of slim denim popping up to cater to different body types ( not everyone is built like a Dior model). Urban Outfitters now carries a fit called the 506 that combines the wearability of my favorite 511′s with the tapered ankles of the 510′s.

I was able to try a pair of these on, and they remind me alot of the very first 511′s I’ve ever owned. (The original ones that came out a few years back were a bit more tapered than they are now.) Until next time!

Happy New Year.

Hope all is well. I spent a nice week in Tokyo for New Years. Didn’t notice anything particularly different this year. Trends: short waisted pea coats. Slim jeans and boots. Dark colors. Skinny ties. Man purses. Slim leather jackets. Trilbies. Think indie with Japanese hair.

brown booties (yes i’m back)

I’ve never really been a big fan of brown shoes or the color brown in general…

but lately, I’ve been seeing some nice ankle boots that might turn me over to the brown side. Like these Mercuries from Frank Wright UK available on shoes.com. Or these Bronx Atlanta boots on zappos. Lace up or slip on. Both are around 150 bux. And the sites have free shipping. Why aren’t more online places doing that? Anyway, strictly my opinion, but ankle boots are nice with some slim pants or jeans and they aren’t too clunky and wintery looking, so yeah you can rock them in warmer climate too. Woot!
