Coming from LA, I don’t really know what cold is. m-65ish

The time I lived in Japan was an eyeopener. It would get soo cold where I lived, no jackets I had were enough. So I went to the local Right On denim shop, and saw a down jacket for sale. It was much like an N-3B parka with no fur trim on the hood. It was made by a company called Spiewak. I picked it up cuz it was about 60 bux US. I swear that thing saved my life during the Japanese winter. It also got me to remember and respect the Spiewak name. Awesome quality and fully functional. Last year I noticed that Urban Outfitters and Karma Loop were carrying a Spiewak jacket called the mead field jacket. It was styled like an M-65 jacket, but with a better fit. Real M-65’s are sweet except for the pantleg-sized sleaves. Anyway, I didn’t pick one up last winter, and regretted it. Spiewak is once again on the ball releasing a new mead field jacket for the winter. I got to try one on at Urban Outfitters at 3rd Street. It seems to have a few improvements over the last year’s model. It’s a little slimmer and more fitted. The material also has changed from regular thick nylon to a water resistant material much like the material found on raincoats (very london foggy). The price has also gone up a little, I guess to accomodate these improvements. Last year it was around 100 bux. This year’s price is about 150. I think it’s worth it, and I hope to buy one soon with any leftover money from my move. What is it with me and military inspired clothing?
